My Cousin Rosy works in NYC but lives in New Jersey with her husband and 2 beautiful little girls. We grew up close like sisters we lived close and her mom passed away with breast cancer when she was 16. Last time I saw them all was August and I have not had dinner alone with my cousin on a Friday night since before she was married 6 years ago. When she was single Me Rosy and 1 of my other cousins Sandra would go to this small restaurant called Angels on 1st and 63rd in NYC. I love "angels" and collected them for a while, the decor was simple, looked like Christmas with the trees and wreaths and lights along with all the Angels. Huge plates of pasta great bread and we were always happy...yes and all 3 were super duper skinny eating this. So that is where Rosy felt like eating so off we went for some girl chatter.
So As both our luck/no luck has it Angels was closed! Are the joking? Nope That is Rosy reading the sign that says 5 weeks the old owner will open somewhere down the block. It will not be "Angels"! So what now? We wanted comfort of a simpler time when we were young and carefree...lol.
So we went to a "Family Style" restaurant called Tony Di Napoli at 82nd and 3rd Avenue. We sat in an open corner ordered a bottle of Santa Margarita Pinot Grigio wine and ate and chatted and chatted and drank! Yes we drank the whole bottle just the 2 of us. We definitely have to do this at least every 2 months. No dessert, there was no room but we did have the best Cappuccino!
