Pink Saturday - San Gennaro Feast in NYC

Happy Pink Saturday! I have missed all of you sooooooooooo very much! Blogger and Google have been given me a hard time about uploading pictures but I am here now and happy! This post is about the Feast of San Gennaro (Saint Gennaro) in Little Italy in NYC. San Gennaro is the Patron Saint of Naples Italy.  The Feast began in September 1926 when new immigrants arrived  from Naples and moved and visited NYC Mulberry Street, Little Italy to continue the tradition they had followed in Italy to celebrate the Patron Saint of Napoli  (Naples) "San Gennaro". His feast day is September 19 in the Roman Catholic Churches Litergical calenar.
It is now celebrated every year for 11 Days. So many tourists and family members of "Little Italy" that moved away from the CIty come back and visit. The celebration is full of street vendors who make sausage and pepper hero's, zepolle (Italian fried dough with powdered sugar on top, Cannoli, rides, carnival games and of course the restaurants and cafes all are busy and festive trying to get you to go try their place. We ate at Casa Bella and had a fabulous feast then walked it off walking the Parade route where a gorgeous Statue of San Genarro was carried through the Feast accompanied by a band and crowds of people. For Dessert we ate at Ferrara's and brought pastries home to the family. What a wonderful night.
I am going to visit Beverly of How Sweet the Sound and all the wonderful Pink Saturday posts to catch up with my Pink Friends who I have missed terribly!

  7. Grace, you do the most fun things on earth, and how I love NYC! It is the place to be. You are blessed to live there.

Thanks so much for the advice on my bloggy issues. I still don't have my new computer because we had house repair issues that could have bought a new car. No kidding. So I need to wait a bit. I can steal Mr. Magpie's IPAD sometimes, but it goes to work with him as does his work computer. So I have to investigate as I can. I can barely see to type on this thing so excuse the typos.

    Love you...

    XO,

    Sheila
