Every September for 11 days, in the Streets of Little Italy in NYC people come from all over to celebrate the Feast of San Gennaro. San Gennaro is the Patron Saint of Napoli in Italy.
This Street Fair is a sensory overload of music, food, smells, and things to see. There are restaurants on both sides of the streets with very aggressive waiters with chants of their special food to lure you in. Usually for me, I pick the least annoying and for 3 years in a row it has been Casa Bella. They are all wonderful places and no matter where you choose or the method you choose them will be a great experience. On Mulberry Street they opened a Christmas Store called "
Christmas in New York" and it is opened all year round. They had a little Halloween inside but such beautiful Christmas displays and items to purchase along with the cutest little cafe inside. It is really impossible to taste everything at the feast and I am Italian and make most of these items fresh at home but after dinner after walking the streets of Little Italy I always stop by
Ferrara's Pastry Shop for a little sweet bite and coffee and
Palermo Bakery for Cannoli's to bring home. As I was going home they were carrying the Saint (San Gennaro) in Procession through the Streets to bring him back to the Church of Most Precious Blood. Definitely a must see and experience.

Hi Grace! Oh, this looks like a fun time! Maybe someday we could come up or is it down? and do this! Thanks so much for popping in to see me. We're getting hammered with acorns!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
This pocket watch display caught my eye. I was given my dad's when he passed away, but the front of it broke off and I ended up giving it away.
ReplyDeleteI want to go to New York so much. It looks so wonderful and full of life!
